Each of these types of macros has a different function, but all are responsible for how well and efficiently your body functions. From an athlete's standpoint, calculating the amount of each energy source (macros) our body needs, fuels the body in the same way every single day.
Imagine a car that sometimes has a full tank, sometimes has half a tank, or maybe sometimes has less than 1/8 of a tank of gas. The car doesn't consistently take you the same distances every time- it physically can't because there isn't enough fuel some of the time. But imagine if the car had a full tank all of the time. You could go anywhere, travel far, wide... the world is your oyster. Get where I'm going? Imagine if your body had a full tank. Flexible dieting helps you figure out how big your tank is and then helps you fill it.
Flexible dieting is a systematic way of fueling your body to get the results you want. There are no magical pills or teas or foods that cause weight loss or weight gain. Flexible dieting breaks down the science of "dieting" and helps you understand WHY certain foods seem to work. Knowing the WHY helps you develop the HOW.
So why is it called "Flexible Dieting"? The term "diet" (at least for the purposes of a "flexible diet") is one of those words whose definitions that has evolved into something completely different as a result of constantly being misused. In this case, "diet" does NOT mean eating to lose weight. Here, diet is just another word for how you eat. The "flexible" part of it all relates to the fact that in a flexible diet, you are free to eat ANYTHING. You don't have to eat chicken and broccoli 7 days a week (unless you're into that sort of thing). You can be FLEXIBLE. Sure, there are limitations and guidelines, but with flexible dieting, gone are the days of "I'm never drinking again- I'm quitting chocolate- No more carbs!" Flexible dieting allow you flexibility in your food choices.
Flexible dieting can be one of the most empowering tools. It has changed the way I look at food and what it does to my body. Sure, it's still about making good choices and having will power just like any other "diet", but best of all, flexible dieting has given me CONTROL. We all know how much of a mind fu*k food can be, but now I never feel guilty about what I eat... and you shouldn't either.
