About Me

My name is Tiffany Christmas and I am a CrossFit and olympic weightlifting athlete based out of California :) I first got into CrossFit in 2012 when I was super bored with life outside of work. I saw a Groupon for some CrossFit classes and conned my friend into going with me. Once I was there, I was hooked! I started going every day and I've never really looked back.

I have always been fairly active throughout my life: track and basketball in middle school, basketball and lacrosse in high school, and then I was lucky enough to get recruited to play lacrosse at UC Davis. I played all 4 years and after I graduated I tried to stay active by going to your typical Globo-gym. Ellipticals, treadmills...that's about it. Eventually, I got really bored with that and picked up running, which is totally weird, because I'm SO bad at it!! I managed to finish a few half marathons and even 1 full marathon, but eventually I got bored with that too. It wasn't until I started doing CrossFit, that I really felt like I had found my home.

In 2013, I met my husband at (ironically) my very first CrossFit competition in Fresno, CA, which led me to move from Davis to the Central Valley.  Now, I train at Horizon Strength & Conditioning in Visalia, CA where my husband and his best friend own the business and coach there full time. Having your spouse as your coach definitely has its perks, which I am thankful for every day!

I first got interested in flexible dieting after reading Nicole Capurso's blog about an 80kg snatch while eating doughnuts. Most flexible dieters that I had read about were bodybuilders and being able to read her blog was a bit refreshing since she was a CrossFit athlete. Performance is super important, so while I wanted to eat "junk food", I still wanted to feel strong and conditioned during my workouts. I read her blog, emailed her, and while I wasn't ever a client of hers, I'm still thankful for the feedback she gave me. I calculated my own macros and gave it a shot.

After a few weeks, I noticed my body getting leaner. I even had friends and gym family tell me I looked lean, too. The crazy thing is that I didn't really do anything different other than track my macros and made sure that I hit them every day. I had to make a few changes over the course of he first few months to really find where my body was best balanced, but it was so great to find a method of fueling my body that didn't limit me to eating chicken and kale every day.

I still constantly assess what my needs are and make changes when I think I need to. But the greatest thing about flexible dieting is the incredible amount of knowledge I've managed to gain in the process. I truly think anyone can practice a flexible diet and make it work for them...for life! Forget your fad diets, your crash diets, and the days of eating near 0 calories. Flexible dieting is an amazing way to fuel your body, stay fit, and eat what you want!!
